How to Repair Broken Eyeshadow

One of the worst feelings is when you are getting dressed, grab your favorite eyeshadow, and open it only to notice that it is shattered to pieces. UGH! I figured I wasn't the only one, so when I found this tutorial on Petit Elefant (who got the idea from Kandee Johnson) on how to repair your broken eyeshadow using the ingredients below, I knew I had to share.

For the full tutorial with complete instructions, head over to Allison's original post.

Happy Monday!

Calling all music lovers!

My friend, Tricia, introduced me to the idea of a CD swap a little while ago. A few of her friends put together CDs of their favorite tunes and swapped them! I thought it was such a great idea! So now I'm opening up the swap party to even more people. Here's what will happen.

1. Sign up! Sign ups will last until Monday, September 20, 2010. If you are interested in the participating in the CD Swap, e-mail your name and mailing address to odelmavintage@gmail.com.
With the request of my boyfriend, if you are a guy and would like to be paired with another guy, just say so in the email. Or if you have any other special requests, just let us know!

2. Start thinking of your favorite songs to put on a CD!

3. Once the sign up period is closed, Tricia and I will send you an email with another participant's name and address.

4. Send your CD to the name and address provided!!

Simple, simple! Who doesn't love new music and receiving goodies in the mail?

I made a few silly buttons to put on your blog to spread the word. The more people, the more music to be shared!

A Vintage Ice Cream Party?

...now that's a good idea!

Vicky Hudgins of The City Cradle  designed this spectacular party for little Kalieh's birthday. Is she not the cutest thing you've ever seen?
A couch? Popcorn? A PHOTOBOOTH? Icecream? Candy? A tiny ferris wheel?!? Oh, man!
There are just too many adorable details to show. Check out the party here, here, and here for more!
There is also a free download. Those fun labels can be yours to use.

{Sidenote: For those readers from my church, while browsing The City Cradle blog, I noticed she participates in Advent Conspiracy. Awesome!!}

My Thrift Book.

Have you ever stepped inside of an Urban Outfitters, looked around, and swore you had just stepped into a very upscale thrift store? And then quickly reminded that you were most definitely no where close to being inside of a thrift store after glancing at a price tag or two.
Yeah, happens to me all the time!
I get so frustrated sometimes when I go in that place.
But here's the good news! It IS possible to replicate all of those perfectly styled displays! And for a fraction of the price! Just go check out a thrift store.

This leads me to my next problem.
Thrift stores' clothing racks overwhelm me.
There is just so much to dig through! Don't get me wrong, I love the hunt, but sometimes it's just SO much that I often give up. I usually go in with an outfit in my head, and then soon forget what I even came in for after a few racks down!
Very frustrating, I tell ya.

In the past, I've had blogs for each season that I would save images and inspiration of pretty outfits to be on the look for. That didn't help me when I was actually in thrift stores shopping, so this year I'm doing it a little different.

My Thrift Book:
I put together a little notebook that I cut images out of magazines, printed pictures offline, etc. and glue them onto the pages. Then, I make little notes highlighting specifics on each page. The notebook is small enough for me to shove in my bag. This way, I'll have all my ideas on paper with me so I can glance back when I'm right in the middle of the hunt! So perfect.

Supplies:
A notebook. Scissors. Glue Stick. Magazines. Printed Pictures from Online. Etc.

Here are some examples I made.

You can save pictures of home decor, accessories, hair styles. So many options!
I know this is no new idea, but I'm very excited to start working my thrift book.
Hope this helped some of you!
